Life Legacy
John G. Payne, 91 of Laurel Grove Retirement Center in Lawrenceville, GA died Thursday, March 4, 2010. He was the husband of the late Claire A. (Paquin ) Payne for 65 years. Born in Montreal Canada, he was the son of George and Mary (Kennedy) Payne of Pawtucket. Prior to moving to Georgia, he was a resident of Attleboro, MA for 2 ½ years and a resident of Seekonk, MA for 34 years.
Before retiring in 1985, Mr. Payne was a fine paper salesman for Carter Rice Storrs and Bement Paper Company. He was a WW11 Naval Veteran serving on the USS Hector. Mr. Payne was a member of Jenks Lodge No. 24 and a Past Master of Union Lodge No. 10.
Mr. Payne is survived by two daughters, Julie P. Clemons of Lawrenceville, GA and Cynthia D. Bucacci of Rehoboth, MA: two grandchildren, Jocelyn M. Dunn of Portsmouth, RI and Jason C. Clemons of Lawrenceville, GA.
His funeral will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 9:00 AM from the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket with a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Park Place, Pawtucket at 10:00 A.M. Internment will follow in Seekonk Cemetery, Seekonk, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. His life will be celebrated with calling hours on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 6-8PM.
